Call for Submissions to a Routledge Book Series

Editors: Fred Block, Belinda C. Ramírez, Kathryn Kish Sklar, Cynthia Kaufman

Deadline: Rolling Submissions

We are living in revolutionary times. Social structures that have stabilized the world order since the end of World War II can no longer function. The climate crisis, deep challenges to systemic racism and gendered oppression, the crisis of our political institutions, including the challenges to democratic governance from the nationalist right, and, perhaps above all, the unaccountable privileges of global capital, combine to make our present moment deeply unstable. It is a time of great opportunity and of urgent need for change.

The title of the series is a reference to the phrase from the Zapatista movement, “Another World is Possible.” This series seeks to create bridges to that other world.

In works of two-hundred pages or less, the series presents thoughtful analyses of the roots of our current crises and pathways toward solutions. We are looking for work that is deep and original while also being compelling to a broad non-specialist audience. We are especially interested in submissions from people from marginalized communities and authors who are not based in academic institutions. We also welcome engaged scholars who seek a wider audience for their contributions to the positive possibilities of our moment.

Books in this series are directed at understanding the seemingly intractable problems of our time. They explore the deep roots of the problems we face. They are highly readable, theoretically and intellectually rigorous, and solutions and action oriented.
